Are you saying that if a 7 year old asks Frank the teacher what he did this weekend. He can’t say I went surfing with steve? Why wouldn't they mention their partners?
Why wouldn’t anyone?

I'm sure that would be OK, he just can't say "I went surfing with Steve, and later on he bummed me in the RV."Are you saying that if a 7 year old asks Frank the teacher what he did this weekend. He can’t say I went surfing with steve?
“did you wear a condom or did he cream pie you raw mr frank?”I'm sure that would be OK, he just can't say "I went surfing with Steve, and later on he bummed me in the RV."
To an extent. As with any law, the interpretation is up to the school district or administrator. Fear of being sued guides how a lot of schools operate so bearing that in mind, imagine the interpretations we'll get. I tend to believe most educators in reality wouldn't practically not address sexuality if a kid was being bullied because they were gay, but at the end of the day the issue is bullying is against school policy, not homophobia.@kneeblock is this true?
Don’t forget those that said 2hrs a day of zoom was plenty of schoolingSorry. I derailed the thread, mistaking it for something it was not
A more related issue is that the CRT issue now has people calling to end public schools
So you've got people like me who believe America should join other modern nations and up the amount of public education to 16 years so as to grow with the times. Yet there are others arguing to end public schools altogether (and give out vouchers for private schools of choice lol)
"Kids, this is Steve."“did you wear a condom or did he cream pie you raw mr frank?”
I went surfing with my husband/partner sounds just fine to me.Are you saying that if a 7 year old asks Frank the teacher what he did this weekend. He can’t say I went surfing with steve?
GreatI went surfing with my husband/partner sounds just fine to me.
Great
What are you talking about?Look. If it's a really camp gay guy who we all know and have met who is making crass innuendos I'd have a problem with them teaching any student. Same as if a straight bloke was making crude jokes in a teaching environment.
But if its just Steve a gay man who is married to another man. Or Valerie who is a married to Claire what difference does it make?
I think you think all homosexuals are some weird TV parody of themselves.
I know 2 married gay couples. Female and male. The girls I get on great with. Ian I get on well with. Gary his partner is a prick. Can't stand the man. Not because he's gay. He's just a prick.
But if he was a teacher I'd have no problem with him teaching my children. He'd be a professional. Homosexuals are not a different species.
You can't make someone who isn't gay gay. You really can't.
Him mentioning he went canoeing with his partner/husband at the weekend to his class isn't going to turn a straight student gay.
Is that what you're frightened about?
Serious question.
I dont want ANY kindergarten teacher talking about sex ffsWhat are you talking about?
Should any teacher be able to talk any type of sex with a kindergartner? I say no
So we agreeI dont want ANY kindergarten teacher talking about sex ffs
Nothing says "Far Right" quite like legalizing gay marriage, most of America letting people smoke dope, and the government actively advocating for civil rights and more robust environmental policies.overton window has been intentionally shifted farther and farther right in the last 7 to 8 years.
As someone who's not American it's always kind of weird watching people debate the Civil War.Slavery was certainly at the root of the entire mess, but the South also had concerns with the North - and the federal government - having influence over them. How many Confederate soldiers actually owned slaves? Like 25%? Most were poor as fuck. Those soldiers were fighting for their way of life and - arguably - against progress. And taxes. And overall federal government control. Many states didn't join the Confederate side until after Lincoln headed south to collect tarriffs and "protect" federal forts in the deep South.
It was about slavery. But it was also about state sovereignty and giving a middle finger to a new federal government that was flexing its muscles.
Note: By no means am I justifying the South's position and practice of owning slaves. That's a part of America's history that I wish never happened.
it’s a legal graduate theory analyzing the legislative and juidicial framework of the united states and it’s history of white supremacy. things like slavery, segregation, killing all the natives.
Critical race theory (CRT) is a cross-disciplinary intellectual and social movement of civil-rights scholars and activists who seek to examine the intersection of race, society, and law in the United States and to challenge mainstream American liberal approaches to racial justice.
As a general rule, I don't indulge much in the culture war stuff. But knowing what they're teaching in high schools, I understand people's concerns.not in my grade schools!
Don't even start on itCivil war was strictly about slavery? wtf...

I couldn't care less about CRT I just think it's funny that the strongest supporters in the media are like "hurr durr it's not being used in schools". After proven wrong they switch to "hurr durr why do you even care it's just part of history"...
These ain't your Grandpa's grade schools!not in my grade schools!
