Clerics can be fearsome fighters. Plate and earth grant them tank. Healing then.

lol i just watched it, and jorah told him "I told everyone you were the bravest fighter i had ever seen," and Thoros goes: "The drunkest."

fun fact. off screen, thoros won two recent melees, besting tons of other knights and eventually the hound. he's a badass fighter (there needs to be an asterisk by those wins because he would always light his sword on fire with wildfire, which is sandor's weakness). but sandor was able to overcome the disadvtange versus beric, which shows that its not always a game changer
so even if thoros isnt AS good as sandor. he's close. total stud

I'm gonna start reading the books when this season is over, but based on what you read, do you think Ser Arthur Rayne let Rhaegar Targaryen beat him at the tournaments at Harrenhall and Casterly Rock?
I know Rhaegar was an amazing fighter, but I can't see anyone beating Dayne.

ive heard people who know the books well say that they believe magic was involved. for years. but i never looked into it. coincidentally though, im working on a dany and a dragon growth video right now, so i just reread all her POV chapters except ADWD (drogons gone for most of that tho)
i literally read this chapter about an hours ago. dany asks barristan to tell her about rhaegar. she wants to hear "he was so good. he was the best. the very best." - like viserys probably always claimed rhaegar was
in truth, rhaegar was good. he was good at everything. but he was more into music, particularly sad music. and prophecy
if i had to guess, he won that tourney because he earned it. and as corny as it sounds, i think he won it because he was inspired by lyanna. he won it because he believed in himself. and he crowned her his princess of love and beauty
sounds fairytailish, but the same thing happened to ser jorah. its why he was able to marry way above his pay grade. a girl half his age from oldtown who looked like dany. a hightower iirc. and she had expensive desires. he couldnt afford them. and couldnt win any more tourneys. it was a one-time, victory inspired by love (seemingly).
eventually jorah sold some poachers to slavers, which is why ned sentenced him to death, he fled westeros, became a spy, and then eventually switched sides (turning point was probably when the dude tried poisoning her. bc he got a letter right before that telling him that he was pardoned, implyng that he was no longer needed as a spy since they finally paid someone to kill her)

Wiki says lost at jousting, not the melee. Seems bizarre for them to be swinging swords at each other
an ice dragon is a separate species made of ice. thats a wight = reanimated fire dragon
I didn't know that (I haven't read the books) but i have a feeling it will happen
since the dragon is dead it would no longer be able to produce the biological material that it used to make fire but it could have ice magic imbued in it from the king.
