Not without the players agreeing.
If the programs stand together I don't think the players have much say at the moment.

Unless the players form a union and strike, at which point the world would implode.

Based on the number of lawsuits filed, and the players winning every single one, not sure I agree

At this point, it's an open market. Every limitation that's been tried has failed. Not sure you saw but now time in JUCO doesn't even count against eligibility.

If the program says we won't allow transfers then the players will file suit, and the university will lose. They're students and there are not any restrictions on biology majors transferring. The players don't need a union for that. Currently, the universities need a union more so that they can negotiate restrictions

You have a team college baseball? Clemson?
No, I don’t have any one team. Clemson has the best sound system in baseball, for the record. One of my favorite projects.
Obviously with the LSU grad wife, I follow them.

I've been waiting to post this until more details came about but sounds like some normalcy will be restored next college football season. The only thing I'm not like is the potential playoff format come 2026. I'll touch on that later.

College football teams will get a little under 15 million of 20.5 million dollar settlement. Any NIL deal over $600 will be reviewed by a 3rd party non NCAA committee. The playing field will be fairly even across the board it seems.

Interesting. But let's see how it holds up to legal scrutiny

Would have worked a decade ago
Yeah, will congress give it some teeth with a bill. Some people say because it'll ultimately be a settlement it should stand up to legal scrutiny. Others say a hard cap is illegal. If the players sue and win get ready to be made employees. Neither party wants that to happen.

Yup, to be able to institute a hard cap, it needs to be a collectively bargained sport.

But they will never let the players form a union, and even if they did, the logistics of a union where people are only in it for 2-3 years is suspect.

AVClub @AVClub have you done work at Cameron Indoor Stadium? I'm up here for the ACC wrestling championship.

NC State fans are a great crowd. Duke really sucks at wrestling but it's a beautiful campus

I forgot Y’all were going. I bet that’s a good time. What a cool venue. Haven’t done any work for Duke. Are NCSU and VT the cream of the conference?
