Uncut Gems 8.5/10
Loved it. One of the most uncomfortable and visceral movie watching experiences I can remember. Adam Sandler is incredible.

1917 8.5/10
I fucking loved it. As oscars gets closer I think movie snobs might take a couple shots at it. Just because the plot is so lineal, and the story is so straightforward. However I enjoy a simple “here is your mission”, now go do the mission plot, when it is done this masterfully. I was fully invested and immersed. I loved it.
I should probably go watch these I didn't know they were this good.

I'm a little annoyed that a lot of my favorite netflix shows aren't getting another season so that sandler can get paid this crazy amount of money but I guess someone is demanding these films and they make money.
They are not paying Sandler all this money, rather his production company 'Happy Madison'
Sure Sandler will make some money but he has to also make the movies. You gotta think Sandlers name/movies have brought millions if not billions of views to netflix.

He’s made so many movies and they are all the same comedy style, and standard, I’m sure they know to the dollar how much they can expect those movies to make. It’s the same audience everytime.

Yeah I loved them both. Finally saw Parasite last night. It didn’t do anything for me. It’s good and I see why people like it but for me it was a 6.5. I think my expectations were too high. I went in expecting to be blown away.

People are insane for that movie. I went on-line trying to see if anyone had the same feelings about it that I did, and it’s hard to find anyone saying anything other than “masterpiece”.

The Art of Self-Defense - 7/10

An entertaining dark comedy. People who train or have trained will probably find more humour in it.
was pretty good and shot well.
Needed stronger comedy imo
still I have never laughed so hard as the stupid vet... "its strange this dog appeared to be killed by a punch...but a punch I'm SURE came from a foot"
or whatever he says. That was so stupid and genius all at once

Joker - 6/10

A fine movie but I didn't find it benefited from tieing into the Batman universe.
DeNiro played himself, as per usual.
Frances Conroy returns as the mom from Six Feet Under or similar to every character I've seen her play.
Joaquin Phoenix is crazy in real life so this role didn't seem like much of a departure.
Decent soundtrack.

Death of Stalin 7/10

Funny shit, some of the old guard from the fast show on board.

Vasily(Rupert Friend) steals the show, had me laughing out loud a few times.

Its no documentary and it is riddled with inaccuracies but its good for a laugh, gets dark at times as well and does create some tension in places even if it is ridiculous.

Parasite - 8/10

This one surprised me. I knew going in there was a curveball in the plot it kept me guessing.

This is one I've skipped over constantly. Maybe I'll give it a go.

I hope Ewan Mcgregor get a best supporting actor nomination, he was great.

This did well to completely separate from Suicide Squad and I believe it a successful standalone on its face.

I haven't watched them lately; would've rated sooner but the internet didn't exist back then.

Maria Thelma should've got the oscar for best female supporting actress.
Her performance was the greatest performance, I dare say, of this young century.
