Just had a massive storm roll through. That was fucking crazy. There was chunks of plywood flying through the air. That's never a good sign.

News is saying 100,000 people without power.
Sounds like a tornado touched down on the east side - about 30 miles from me. Definitely the same storm.

Still sucks here. Thank goodness for a new HVAC system and lots of insulation, my house is comfy at least. But I work outside mostly and the heat is draining.

Well, it’s hot.

next three days are supposed to be 108 or 109, with a heat index around 118. Fun times! It’s so dry, fires have been popping up all over. Stupid shit like idiots flicking cigarettes out their car window. But one of the conservation easements we helped set up burned on the 4th…little over 500 acres got toasted. And that sucks because that property was so cool and I’ve been going out there for almost 20 years.

my mom and little sister are visiting from the Midwest and they’re hating it lol.

#stay hydrated y’all

Is housing cheaper in these locations with the crazy heat?
It should be.
Lol, I wish. The Austin market is off the charts. Thank goodness I bought this place in 2008 when the market was in the shitter, because we accrued a lot of equity. You can’t even buy a tear down now for twice what we paid back then.

good HVAC and insulation are important here for summer. The evening lows are around 80 so doesn’t cool that much so no open windows this time of year. We’ve upgraded our system and house so we’re all good, but one of my neighbors said he had his AC set at 74 today and it was 82 in his house when he got home from work. That’s too hot for me to sleep well.

Geez, that is just too hot brother

I have trouble sleeping here and the temps get to 55 at night in the summer and only gets to mid 80s during daytime
I can't sleep with AC on so I try to open windows every night...I prefer to sleep in a sub 60 degree room

Market is crazy here as well, but no oppressive heat, just shitty politics

It's been mid to high 80's here with nights between fifty something and low 70's.

Warm days, sleepable nights without AC.
That sounds amazing to me. My thermostat that came with our HVAC system shows weather projections. This is what it says now…

I have field work Monday and Tuesday too damn it lol. No joke, you have to eat and drink constantly all day if you don’t want to fade out or feel ill if your working outside. Coconut water is my friend.

It's still humid, but only like 75. I'm having a beer on the back porch right now. Today is the first day in weeks where it isn't miserable outside

Little Texas hot cell storm blowing in…starting to rain a bit. Likely won’t amount to much, just make it extra humid tomorrow.
