That is crazy.That seems like a good plan. And I'm sure you know this, but don't burn it! I think they have a poison ivy specific herbicide now available at the standard box stores. Maybe that could help if the base starts sprouting again.
I remember reading a couple years ago about some dude that took some kids camping and he burned a bunch (on accident because he was a dolt) and they all got it really bad. Like in their eyes and lungs and stuff like that. What a maroon....

I thought poison ivy was a cousin of stinging nettles.
I was walking through the ozarks, a couple hundred acres, and touched it & said "hey what's this vine, is this concord?"
