Ran into this little guy out hunting prairie dogs.

I was able to briefly catch a spotted whiptail this afternoon for my son to hold. But he escaped his grasp before I could take a pic. I think the Texas species is gularis. Not my pic, but it was one of these:

Very nice! iNat says it's gularis so I think you're right.

Aside from invasives, the only whiptail-like lizards we have are six-lined racerunners. They're faster than any lizard I've seen, which I'm guessing is a trait among Aspidoscelis species.

How'd you catch it? Sneak attack or catch pole?

I have seen documentaries involving that lizard
not claiming to have seen one you dipshit
No you haven't. You express no interest in anything outside of weed and shit tard conspiracies.

It just makes no sense to me why you'd lie about something so trivial.

No one is impressed. Stop being fake.

What is it? I think you're in bumfuck midwest/prairies somewhere but that's too wide a scope for me to try to ID it.
Not sure which species, it just looked like our Texas horned lizard so that was my best guess. I study rocks/groundwater not lizards, so heck if I know ?
I did a little digging and I think it might be the Greater Short horned lizard but I’m not 100% sure. It does look a lot like the Texas horned lizard as well, but I don’t know if that species ranges this far north.
It also looks like the Pygmy Short horned lizard but those are found in the Pacific Northwest.

Lots of Bullsnakes out right now too.

I think it was too small for one of those. It was about the size of a large dog turd.
Also, it was in the middle of a field and at least a mile from the nearest home.
That could be bearded dragon size. Maybe it was recently liberated.

Saw one of these in the forest last year.
Had no idea they were native to Oregon.

Can barely tell which end is the head.
Rubber Boa.
