Venting....Unbelievable few days. My daughter started getting sick on Fri. The prior week she went to urgent care for right side lymph node in her neck. She had some tonsil on that side, etc, but was mostly fine. Rapid strep test was negative, but they gave her 10 days amox script.
this past friday she starts a fever, and saturday she starts getting a rash my eldest calls and tells me....I go pick her up sunday morning to take her to urgent care and 1st think I say when I see her is "thats fucking allergic reaction to the Amox. Urgent care conclude maybe it is reaction, but fever is oddball, so maybe 2 things...reaction and a infection. So throat culture and 2 antihistamines. Strep should have responded to 9 of days worth of Amox, so scarlet fever is a very iffy consideration
Return moday, a little tightness in chest so I'm concerned. Can't get bloodwork cause labs are closed for ho;liday so just gotta deal with fever management...occasional spikes are worrisome105-106. So we do showers and ibuprofin which she responds to.
Tuesday morning, bloodwork and followup after results....a couple signs she isfighting an infection. But urgent care doc doesn't like mix of symptoms and refers us to ER at womens and childrens med center.....wants experts to consider mix of symptoms for scarlet fever, measles or kawasaki disease. ER doc order up a bunch of bloodwork and blood cultures to test for bacterial infections. But he looks her over and asks a buch of questions...he is confident it's some kind of virus that just needs to run it's course and she is responsive and other than fever and splotchy/red looking she seems pretty good. So its wed and just waiting to see if cultures pop for anything and managing occasional fever spike.
She hanging with me at apt and wants me to feed her steak and corn on cob....I take that as a good sign
