I love going to Wendy's and snagging some Mello Yello. They have different flavors now. I hope RFK makes Coke great again.

Well done. Most people have never even heard of it. One of my favorite cold weather dishes.
I used to work with a guy whose dad was born in Hungary. He used to always talk about this and Lecso. That’s a pepper stew that they put Hungarian sausage in.

When I was 20 and working in printshops there was a mom & pop Hungarian restaurant 2 doors down. Tiny place, like 5 tables.
One day our book keeper gave me a Styrofoam thing full of her leftovers because she knew I was always starving and broke.
It was incredible! Became my payday meal for the next 2 years.

When I moved to the mountains I never saw it on a menu again, so I finally learned how to make it. Even the spaetzels from scratch.
Fortunately you can find them in some stores these days.

Never had lesco, sounds awesome.

Ribeye from the cows, scalloped potatoes not from the box bullshit, broccoli and cheese with a side of horseradish sauce for the ribeye.

I posted this recipe on the old site, but thats gone forever..

Spicy Chicken Paprykash
1lb Chicken, thighs or fuck your mother
2 onions
1 red pepper
Minced garlic
Quality, fresh, paprika (important- its the star and goes stale fast).
Can O Chicken broth
Butter
Sour cream
Flour
Heavy cream (optional)
Mushrooms (optional)
Spaetzels or egg noodles

Melt a tab of butter in a good pot and put a sear on your Chicken, set aside on a plate. Remove pot from heat for a minute.

Do not drain pot, scrape all the leavins off the bottom to get loose, add another pat of butter, and dump in 2 thinly sliced onions. SLOWLY saute/cook down onions until they are brownish/getting translucent. Keep stirring, takes about 15 minutes.

When they get mushy add sliced peppers and minced garlic, cook another 5min.
Remove from heat, paprika can scorch and tastes awful.
Add a fuckton of paprika (that's 4 tblsp), salt, & pepper, stirring up well.

Add mushrooms now if you want
Add Chicken back
Pour broth over top
Bring to boil and then simmer for 45 minutes.
Put a couple big scoops of sour cream in a bowl, sprinkle in a big tablespoon of flour, and mix well till it's like a paste, add 1/2 cup cream (optional) and mix that in.
Dump that into the pot and let it warm up (will surprisingly cool down the pot), once warm and loose stir into the mix

Let it simmer for at least another 30 minutes on low low heat.

Serve over some kind of egg noodles (some weirdos use rice)

Enjoy
