No, he was never out. Show the proof. The ref checked with him the entire time, ref kept almost stopping it then Merab wouild do something to show he was in the fight, as soon as the fight ended his eyes where wide open, he knew the clock ran out so he rightfully was resting, eyes open.

Show the proof, there is zero, only guessing by people like you and Marc G that he was out, he was not.

I saw that fight, I really like both fighters. Here is the key difference, that was at the end of rd 2, with another round to go. Merab and Ricky went the full 15 minutes, if it was stopped at 14:59, all good, but it went 15 minutes. I am fine wtih that stoppage, I remember due to asskicking by strikes by Awad, and there was still a round to go. Also, it was not from a sub that may or may not have made Merab go out, it was Rickels getting so beat up, that there was no reason to continue, fight never played all the way out, ref was cool to stop it, just like ref did not have to wait for Edson Barboza to get clean ko'd to stop that beatdown.


But Merab went 15 minutes, I think he never went out, was close to it but not out, even if people think he went out, there is nothing close to clear proof, and the fight went 15 full minutes. It's insane and not fair to go back and post fight declare such a call, win or lose blatantly unfair to Merab and a fucking gross example of misjustice in terms of the sport.

I clicked winner for true reason. That is exactly my view, and I agree about the other 2 fights being easy calls, because those the fighters where clearly out. But, as you just said, youi can't let a guy go 15 minutes, then kind of think he was out earlier, and after allowing him to go all the way, call it a stoppage loss.

the proof is that the referee looked at him and saw he was out. That's the only proof that's needed.

Beause Marc was the one reviewing it in the seats, and it looked like the ref deferred to him, plus I saw the fight live, ref never looked at him and saw he was out, how could he, they showed the guy and he was lying on his back, awake the literal second the fight was over, why are you making shit up lol.

The ref is standing there with his face 2' from Merab's. As soon as Simon let's go of the choke, the ref is already watching Merab's eyes to see of there's any movement. Simon gets up, starts to point at the guy with the purple face and white neck staring blankly in to space, and the ref is already looking at the dude.

He turns and walks over to the timekeeper to record the 'TKO'.

Marc said in the post-fight interview that the ref made the decision, and he only had to explain it to Buffer. He did that because he saw people looking at the scorecards and he wanted to make sure that Bruce announced the result correctly.

Marc Goddard and BJM already said the correct call was made, what's your basis for disputing that? Did you have a better view than the guy staring in to Merab's eyes from a couple feet away, or do you have more knowledge of the rules than BJM?

First of all I read an article on UG News, Goddard was part of and was the main guy making the call

2nd, Goddard is not just the best ref, but by far

3rd, I saw the exact video from the best angle on the UG article, the guy was never out and if he was it was never clear it was the wrong call

well to be fair I don't think anyone has seen the leg twitch in bicycle form yet from a choke out


I know holly was throwing combos when out or going out but I haven't seen the leg thing yet....I have only seen leg seizure movements ala Lindland

So I think people should be allowed to be a bit confused or differ in opinions....this is not a clear cut situation IMO, if so then Ref should have stopped it

Replay is new and those replay waters are pristine and haven't really been tested yet.
