I don't even know where I could procure a mask. I don't need to go out for a few weeks so it isn't an issue but where would I buy one if I had to?
I think I can help you, for a small fee of course.

Good friend's girlfriend is at a hospital in Queens in NYC. Said a guy on the floor above her hung himself in his room when he tested positive. Realistically the toll this will take on other physical conditions and mental health is going to elevate some of the death rates in ways beyond what we can foresee.

The isolation thing must be horrible if you're on your own too, even if you're healthy.

My step dad is really lonely since my mum passed away 6 months ago. He's healthy enough but now he can't even go round to his next door neighbour's for a cup of coffee and some company for half an hour.

He wouldn't ever finish himself off but I reckon plenty people would.

Ladies and gentlemen......well more like lady and gentleman at this point. There are now 1567 deaths in this great country. Just to put that in perspective for future generations who may one day repopulate the earth....there are 3000 ppl killed every year by hippos. We should have already been locked in our houses because of hippos like I been saying.

Awww. First time you've referred to me so nicely.

And fucking aww at hippos, if I keep shoveling comfort food down my throat I'm headed that way.

I've seen an uptick in anxiety and depression exacerbation already.

New info just in. Corona death rate is 5 per 1 million ppl. Think of it like this......if you had a million dollars , you would have to give back $5 of it. That is a lot of money. You'd hardly have any left over. It's all gone

even people without any virus aren't gonna handle "lockdown" well
the breaking of all routines and habits will certainly take a toll

I can't imagine being in a high rise during this quarantine

there's an 80% reduction in communication of the flu when everyone in the household wears a mask.

I respect your feels, but a deadly virus will not.

Stay safe, fren.
Sick people wear a mask always. Also...
In close contact with a sick person wear a mask. Subway car with sick people? Wear a mask. Healthcare? Wear a mask. Flu at the house? Isolate the sick person you're caring for and wear a mask.
Sick people are the priority. As the density of cases increases the benefits of mask wearing increase for well people where the benefits of wearing it probably outweigh the potential harms. Cuz you're surrounded by sick people.
One question becomes the cost/benefit of well person masks...even if we have them...and we will. It's unknown right now but I greatly appreciate if you have data on that. Asia's experience with population mask wearing is as much culture as anything. They have a huge virus response apparatus.
With that said. If well and sick people all wear a mask in the entire population, you would reduce some transmission beyond just masking the sick. The asymptomatic time period insures that. But other viruses have these periods and the benefit of mask wearing in them is small enough to be difficult to quantify. If you've got other data please learn me. Especially if we had a way to calculate disease decline per number of well mask wearers.

if EVERYONE wore a mask, it should stop the spread regardless of studies on how it's not effective

South Korea's been taking care of it pretty damn good, same with Taiwan, what do they have in common? EVERYONE WEARS A MASK!

if touching the mask is a problem, why don't they just instruct people on how to properly wear a mask and tell them to wear a fuckin mask??

this notion that mask does more harm than good is fucking ridiculous!

everyone properly wear a mask, wear gloves, sanitize, and wash their hands really good and this shit will be good

Hong Kong sent their flu cases to zero this year.

the only reason they say that is because the alternative is "having masks would save lives, but we didn't stockpile any"

Asians always wear masks.

Mostly because the air is so thick with pollutants you need to carve out a path with a knife so you can walk down the street.

Haha. Maybe.

I'm not wearing a mask all day. I hate those fucking things. They get your face hot and make you sweat, and they always fog up safety glasses.

I will just stay 6 feet away from folks so if they sneeze I can matrix-dodge their droplet spray.

Damn experts. What do they know?
if masks protect the doctors from catching it, how would they not protect the regular citizens?

if they say reason is that people don't know how to properly wear a mask, then why don't they teach the people how to properly wear a mask properly? instruct them to not fuck with their masks when they wear it.

if fitting is a problem, then why don't they teach people how to properly fit their mask and use it properly? like don and clear ?

IDK man~ you might be ok with it but to me, it's non-sense.

there might be that one who's asymptomatic and breathing heavy, releasing some droplets while passing you by, you won't even know~

but if you had a mask on, you'd be protected

not everyone always wear a mask though

the difference was that people were told to wear masks and they all follow.

S. Korea have young idiots who don't give a shit like those idiot spring breakers but at least they party with their masks on

This is what I don't get. ABC's doctor woman early on was saying that wearing a mask for protection won't help because the spores are so small they'll get through it anyway. Now everyone is being advised to wear one.

I'm assuming she was wrong. Some protection has to be way better than no protection.
