It's a classic buddy movie. Here's the dialogue from the trailer.

"He's a straight laced, right wing, cat. He's a dirty, hippy, beard. They're the original odd couple. Together they're crossing the country on an adventure for the ages, and by the time they make it to a polling station they might just see that they aren't quite as different as they thought. They might not have it all together, but they just might realize that together they have it all..."
This is possibly the greatest movie ever made...

A Vancouver voter has taken to social media to warn Canadians about possible vote fraud after receiving a ballot pre-marked for the Conservatives today during advanced voting for the federal election.

“To all Canadians: I went to vote today in early voting, and noticed that my ballot had been pre-marked, with what looked like black streaks, in the ‘circle’ where you mark your X,” Chris Quarrie posted on Facebook. “I showed the election officials and they were concerned.”

“They threw it out as a spoiled ballot,” he added. “I got another ballot, and it was marked as well, in the same way = a second spoiled ballot (Incidentally, one ballet was marked beside the Conservative candidate, and one beside the Green candidate). I finally got one that was clean.”

“Please make sure your vote counts!” the schoolteacher urged Canadians. “Ask for a clean, unmarked ballot.”

The pre-marked ballots were discovered at West Point Grey United Church in the Vancouver Quadra riding, where Conservative Blair Lockhart is locked in a tight battle against Liberal incumbent Joyce Murray.

Mr. Quarrie’s post has been shared nearly 20,000 times amid widespread fears that Stephen Harper will resort to electoral fraud to cling to power as the Conservative Party of Canada has been convicted of criminally cheating at the last three elections.

The Tories pleaded guilty to the “in and out” Scandal in 2006 while Stephen Harper’s ethics spokesperson and Peterborough MP Dean Del Mastro was jailed for electoral overspending and fraud that took place during the 2008 election.

Conservative staffer Michael Sona was jailed over the 2011 Robofraud 2011 Canadian federal election voter suppression scandal.

The not-for-profit Council of Canadians last week launched VoteWatch, a service to report voter suppression Canadians may experience or witness.

“We’re asking voters to be vigilant, given the fraudulent robocalls that marred the last general election and the changes to voter identification requirements,” Garry Neil, Executive Director of the Council of Canadians, said. “If someone tries to stop you from voting or you can’t vote because of the new ID requirements, let us know.”

Meanwhile, international organizations are sending teams to Canada to monitor and assess Canada’s electoral process, especially the impacts of Fair Elections Act and widespread vote suppression tactics adopted by the Conservatives.
Oh please. Note that the ballot was a printing error and the tag was based on the location of the name on the ballot and that the green party also had marks beside their name.

As far as robo-calls go, the NDP has also been convicted of use them.

Yes I am shocked Harper still has any support in the country after years of deficits, a plunging Canadian dollar, and another recession. What does he have to do to prove he is an arrogant politician with no clue on how to run an economy?

Thank you for compiling and posting these. It's somehow comforting to see that others understand what's going on here and share your rage. That sex trade C36 had me spitting fury, it's so heartless, sexist, unrealistic and impractical, especially after the Pickton horror. How he'd hold Parliament hostage, I had to stop listening to The House on CBC because it would fill me with such bad energy even the treadmill and heavy bag didn't take the edge off.

I keep muttering "That's hard times, Daddy" to myself like Dusty Rhodes.

Me and the missus casted our votes for Liberal yesterday. Lucked out, only had to wait 5 minutes in line, heard it was an awful wait in some places.

Is Trudeau the perfect PM? Probably not, but I'd take him any day over Harper or Mulcair, who apparently is not even a factor at this point.

TRANSCRIPT OF HARPER DISCUSSING MARIJUANA LAW WITH JON MCCOMB ON CKNW YESTERDAY:

Jon: Let’s talk a little bit about the marijuana issue. You have said that marijuana is infinitely worse than tobacco.

Conservative leader Harper: Yeah, absolutely.

Jon: Where is the proof of that?

Conservative leader Harper: I think you look at… you look at uh… the science on this and not just…

Jon: Can you point to any science?

Conservative leader Harper: Not just on smoking, the health effects look up. Let Health Canada speak on that, the health effects, the medical community tell you, health how the effects of prolonged marijuana use like tobacco, smoking and everything else. You know look, our view is very straightforward. We don’t want to encourage our kids to get into marijuana. You know Mr. Trudeau’s number one priority, legalizing marijuana, making it as available as alcohol and tobacco. I know some people favour that but that is not our approach and that’s not the kind of lifestyle choices we want to see for our young kids.

Jon: He’s… this isn’t a huge priority. He said he would legalize marijuana.

Conservative leader Harper: This was his, this was his…

Jon: It’s happening all around. This has happened in Washington, in Oregon, it’s happening in California.

Conservative leader Harper: Others are doing it. This was his first policy announcement something he was running on over the country. Look, I’ll let him defend it. It’s not the direction we want to go. We want to obviously discourage non-medical use of narcotics. It’s a bad thing for people. We want to have programs that help people who get addictions, but we want to continue to crack down on people who sell substances that ruin people’s lives.

Jon: There are pot dispensaries as you know…

Conservative leader Harper: Yeah.

Jon: They popped up all over Vancouver, all over this area. They don’t seem to be going away and…

Conservative leader Harper: Well as you know, the RCMP and others are looking at those operations.

Jon: That’s my question. Are you going to send the RCMP to shut these places down?

Conservative leader Harper: Well, I’m not going to send them in but as you know, the Health Canada, RCMP and others, they have responsibilities under the law. They’ll certainly make sure that laws are being respected.

Jon: Are you not completely out of touch on this issue? Do you… the polls that I see across Canada indicates the Canadians have no problem with the legalization of marijuana? Are you stuck in another era?

Conservative leader Harper: I think the polls Jon are a little more mixed on that. I think what you know kind of all parents understand is nobody wants to see their kids get into marijuana and other narcotics and that’s something we want to…

Jon: And nobody wants to see their kids go to jail for walking around with a little pot in their pocket.

Conservative leader Harper: They don’t. We all know that. We all know that. You don’t go to jail for having a joint but if you become a trafficker of drugs and we know what the drug world; it’s guns, gangs, and crime, we want to crack down on that kind of behavior that obviously causes a lot of violence but also destroys people’s lives.

Jon: Does it… isn’t it true though that if you legalize it, you take it out of the hands of the guns and the gangs and the problems as we see here in Surrey and other places all the time?

Conservative leader Harper: You know what, the drug business isn’t driven primarily by marijuana now. We’re also putting in resources, RCMP to deal with the growth of meth labs and synthetic drug products. I mean look, this is never going to be a business that is about creating addictions and wrecking people’s lives. It’s never going to be a respectable business. These things you know, like I said Jon, the reason drugs are illegal is because they’re bad. They’re not bad because they’re illegal. They’re illegal because they’re bad. They destroy lives and what’s what we want to avoid.

Jon: Well again, I have to press you on -

Conservative leader Harper: I think we’re gonna have to agree to disagree.

Jon: Where is the research? Where is the proof? I mean you said infinitely worse than tobacco and your press secretary is trying to wrap this up.

Conservative leader Harper: I can direct it up at Health Canada.

Jon: Can you please?

Conservative leader Harper: Lots of studies that indicate all kinds of negative effects. Do you want to see your children using marijuana regularly?

Jon: My children are all adults and I leave it in their hands to make those decisions as adults.

Conservative leader Harper: Do you think it’s a good thing for them?

Jon: I don’t know whether it’s good or not. I know that it isn’t any worse than going home and having a drink of scotch or a glass of wine after work. I know that as much.

Conservative leader Harper: As I say, I think the health studies are pretty clear that the effects are bad. Well, we have to agree to disagree on that.

I agree that Marihuana needs to be legalized and taxed but hanging your hat on that as a reason to vote for Trudeau? LOL!

He won't legalize sh*t. He'll make a lot of noise and start a study or commission but in the end he won't do a thing and it will be one more broken promise that we all had to pay for.

I see no reason why he would go back on that promise. The groundwork has already been laid by Colorado and other States, he wouldn't exactly be reinventing the wheel.

I just turned 29 and I've smoked weed probably 10-15 times in my life, and haven't for several years. If the planet's entire supply of weed suddenly disappeared, it wouldn't make a bit of difference to me. That being said, to me it's a very important issue of personal freedom and freedom of choice, and I would never be able to support a leader who peddles the same old "Reefer Madness" nonsense in late 2015. To me, a person who supports the prohibition of marijuana is out of date and is supporting the notion that it's the government and police force's responsibility to protect us from "ourselves".

I like Trudeau's stance on sex workers as well. I've never solicited a prostitute, but I feel that whatever two consenting adults do behind closed doors - regardless of whether or not money is exchanged - is certainly no business of the government or police force.

Is Trudeau for Trans Pacific Partnership?

I was reading Bernie Sanders' stance on how its written by corporations and doesn't believe it's good for the America. Another person whose opinion i respect is senator Elizabeth Warren and shes also against it. And another piece in the paper today about it being bad for Canada.

As far as today's events, I think that shows the Libs are the same old party.

It was Cons who brought in the European sex worker style laws by the way.

When close to 1 in 5 jobs is linked to trade I would think that lowered trade barriers in and out make for great economic sense, especially considering the dollar at the moment and it puts standards for labour and environmental laws.

It's pretty much the sister act to the USA's Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership with Europe.

All they did was cave into the pressure from women's right groups and make it legal for sex workers but illegal for the john, which is fucking retarded.

I don't know any European country that has a similar policy. Either it's completely legal and regulated (Germany, Netherlands, Greece, ect), decriminalized for both parties or completely prohibited.

Can you think of another product or service that is legal to sell/offer, but illegal to buy? It's mind numbing. This is the nonsense that comes from the Cons.

I'm not interested in having a leader who wants to restrict personal freedom, one who tells the country, with a straight face, that marijuana is "infinitely worse" than cigarettes, when tobacco is estimated to be causing nearly 750,000 deaths per year in Canada and the US alone. And I just don't buy this nonsense that's being peddled that the Canadian economy is going to just fall apart without Harper. I think this country needs some new blood in there.

I'm concerned about its implications for privacy and accessibility of information. Not to mention how our federal and provincial information storage laws can be influenced by those of foreign countries. Plus, have workers ever benefited from large-scale deals like this, or are they structured to serve corporations and politicians?

lookoutawhale @lookoutawhale the Liberals haven't endorsed the TPP openly without the full disclosure of the terms of agreement, but have not opposed it either as they are in their words "broadly pro-trade."

I've never smoked weed, but I see it exactly as you do, as a symbol of personal freedom that I have no right nor desire to obstruct others from using. When governments allow us to buy cigarettes, which are acknowledged major cancer seeds, and then bluster about protecting us it insults the intelligence and the sense of adult competency.

I've never hired a sex worker either but stigmatising what they do is both murderously dangerous and absurd. Under the Cons' C36 bill sex buyers still face jail time, which isn't true legalisation of sex work at all and does nothing to defuse the mix of shame and secrecy that makes sex workers so vulnerable.

yeah same. I don't smoke weed but so many people do it and its crazy to have people shooting each other for it like the prohibition era of alcohol. They should just legalize it so it doesn't burden the prison system either.

And if 2 people want to get it on they should be allowed to. It happens all the time for free. If someone wants to pay for it they should do it and tax it so the girls are safe and there are no creepers killing these girls and treating them like garbage in some seedy hotel.

FeeO @FeeO Ted Williams' head @DannyNL and BeardOfKnowledge @JohnyHendricksBeard , whats your guys opinion on the Trans Pacific Partnership?

good idea for Canada to be part of or no?
As far as I'm concerned we have no choice but to enter into the treaty being as our biggest trading partner is already balls deep in making it happen, and our other big partners aren't far behind. We need to hope that our elected officials do a good job of looking out for the public's best interests when negotiating rather than just negotiating in the interest of big business. It's only an issue because it's going down in a secret manor, so one of the party's said "We can divide with that" and made it an issue. Signing blindly leaves us vulnerable, avoiding it leaves us on the outside looking in and then we're completely fucked.

I'm with JHB above on this in that I think it's just an inevitability with the Yanks so deep into it and the thought of us being left out in the cold holding our dicks if we don't sign. A lot of the criticisms of it are alarming, and of course there are going to be pros and cons to any deal this big. I just don't see how Canada can opt out.

For sure.

It makes me feel so much safer to know that my tax dollars are going towards stopping some guy from paying for a blow job. Yeesh.

If we had a true chance to clearly study the deal, weigh it as a country and vote on it, I'd feel warmer towards it. I'm cynical. The secrecy around it is troubling, and what I have researched hasn't reassured me that it will do anything good in any sense measurable by normal Canadians, particularly if the deal is struck under the Cons. But it's like the Beard and DannyNL said, it's too late. It's happening, so all I can hope for is that Justin Trudeau wrangles harder and fairer on all of our behalf.
