Guy needs to stop whining about his wife losing her job and figure it out."My written words were written out of context. I also don't think about what I say because I don't know how words work."
WITNESS!!!!^ I keep saying I’m not built for this! Can I sue this motherfucker for stealing my line?
o manHow you Texans holding up? Need any supplies or anything? We just got shellacked by an ice storm here in PA, but the power is holding. It's definitely looking bad down there. Just saw this, which looks dangerous af.

Naw it’s fineo man
that is a lot of work to fix
If I were a tradesman in Texas I would be licking my chops right now*@MMAPlaywright
I know it sucks to think about but if you have pipes above rooms with valuables or in walls next to valuables/irreplaceable items consider a plan of action...aka moving some of those items
if/when pipes burst then electrical gets sketchy and if/when water is a flowing then it will be much harder to protect said items
Just something to consider...I hope your pipes hold up of course
I don't think a lot of texans realize how fucked it will be when it thaws...there is only so many plumbers and repair people available
Seems normal to meThat apartment complex is fucked bro

hundreds of thousands maybe...not sure how many people live in those areasThanks, man.
The pipes are all below the house. Yeah, if they go we are gonna have trouble. Our entire neighborhood is frozen. I expect dozens if not hundreds needing plumbers.
Generators are very handy. One of those things that cost a lot, but when you need them you really need them. The Generac would be awesome, but i think they are between 8-10k. I can’t come close to justifying that much money for no more often than i need one. I would certainly recommend taking the plunge and buying a small one to keep around in case of emergencies like this.i have been after my parents to buy a generator for the last 5 years. they are like 70 and live in the boonies. the power goes out all the time especially in the winter. they dont care though . they are old . thye have a wood stove in the basement and candles . they are too boomer to get with the program . ill get a text from my mom asking me if i have seen anything about the power being off on the local news site. it just escapes her that she can use her phone to look it up too.i think they just like to sit around burning candles .it probably reminds them of their childhood
2k to keep the fridges and some sockets going. Could put the water heaters on it too.Generators are very handy. One of those things that cost a lot, but when you need them you really need them. Unfortunately for me, my generator needs a new carburetor. If i lose power and need to get it started i will have to hope i can rob one off of one of my mowers.
that is the thing with a generator. its one of those things you buy and then its in the way for years on end but hen you need it it is as good as gold. even a 2k camping generator will save your ass in an emergencyGenerators are very handy. Yep, better to have it and not use it much than to not have it and regretthat is the thing with a generator. its one of those things you buy and then its in the way for years on end but hen you need it it is as good as gold. even a 2k camping generator will save your ass in an emergency
The year you get indoor plumbing, this happens!!!Just got a toilet back and hot water in a bathroom. Yasssss
4 million people without electricity. Let's say that 75% are on electric heat. That's 3 million people with frozen pipes. This shit is really getting crazy. I can’t imagine how many people are gonna have busted water pipes and lots of water damage. As someone said, the water can come out real fast when a pipe breaks. I’ve had hairline cracks where the water sprays like a mist and pipes bust completely and it gushes like a hydrant. I don’t know if this is good advice or not, but in the past if i thought they were gonna bust i have shut the water off at the main that way when I’m ready to come back i can have someone turn it on while i walk through the house and listen for the inevitable.
