CDC came out with new ventilation guidelines last week along with deemphasizing disinfecting surfaces. Surface borne transmission has remained low with a bulk of studied transmission being respiratory droplets.
This is all pretty well known but CDC is always gonna lagtime due to requirements for big studies before they put their guidelines out.
Here we are over a year into the pandemic and the lack of federal push for new tech for cleaning indoor air, etc. is nuts to me.
In a year I feel like we could have provided retrofitted tech that would allow public buildings to increase capacity. We had this very conversation in this thread about 9-12 months ago. Airlines use very expensive recirculating tech to cleanse air. Surely industrial ACs could be retrofitted with similar. Recirculating air in dining rooms is a huge cause of transmission but surely we could figure out cleaning that air before recirculating it.

Their normal prices can be expensive compared to other grocery stores but they have good sales and bogo deals.
I've been to other grocery stores across the country and none of them can compare in terms of service, store cleanliness, and product quality.

Publix definitely lags technologically overall (there are literally only two stores in north Broward with self checkout lol) but their vaccine scheduling system has been pretty consistent. A mad rush at times, but consistent and dependable.
They schedule vaccines on M/W/F starting at 7 am (Moderna scheduled on M/F and J&J scheduled on W).
I have no idea when places like Walmart, Walgreens, and CVS schedule their vaccine appointments because there's no set time. Every time I went on one of those companies' websites I was told that there were no appointments available. Ended up booking both my and my wife's appointments at Publix (Moderna).
Publix sucks.
I've only shopped there while in Florida and they are always full of Floridians. Fucking annoying.

They held it at a community center. Had an appointment and they allow online check-in where you can get all the questions out of the way. They didn't say what shot you were going to get - just that it was going to be Pfizer or Moderna (ended up with Pfizer)
Verified who I was with an ID. After a brief discussion with the RN about possible side effects I got the needle. Proceeded to a waiting area for 15 minutes before I was released.
The whole thing - including waiting time - took about 25 minutes. No idea how many they''ll do in a day, but there were about 70 people there by the time I left. 8 RN stations administering shots.
Very organized. Ohio has their shit together.

Yeah, Indiana just approved the shot for people over 40
Ohio is 16+ if all appts aren't being booked.
Saw a couple kids there.
Also - Indiana has changed their mask "mandate" to an "advisory".
They are no longer required unless you are in a state building, a vax and testing facility, or a school.
I live pretty close to the border. I know who's getting my grocery money this week.

I haven’t even seen a Publix up here with self-checkout! Jealous of that.
I was told Walmart releases Thursday, starting at 11pm and then throughout the night into Friday morning, staggered. Everything I saw was J&J only, though. I don’t know about Walgreens or CVS release schedule, but I got my Walgreens Moderna or Pfizer in the middle of the afternoon, about two hours after my mom scheduled hers, so I’m guessing they have some sort of staggered appointment release, as well. I have to go to Palm Beach for mine (I swear I’m not trying to be fancy) because I couldn’t find an appointment that fit into my work schedule and my son’s school schedule.
I haven’t tried Publix since the first day. My dad got an appointment scheduled that same day, so I had no reason to try again until now. Glad they’ve got it down pat better than the first few days.
Vaccines and a vast majority of people still wearing masks and most businesses still requiring them, at least in my area.
