My best friend belongs to a Lutheran church. I've been to their Sunday service, they're nice people. Not win you over nice, just normal nice. The services are friendly, I even gave a short Christmas blessing speech.
But it's a different subject, atheism, and maybe worthy of its own thread.
The international community could replace "Taliban" with "America" and "Muslims" with "people" and be equally right.
You respect the Muslims who are happy to ignore the vast majority of their religion's instructions because of how violent and barbaric and vile they are, you mean.
Personally, I don't respect "moderate" Muslims, because you cannot be a "moderate" Muslim. Either the Koran and the hadith's claims are true and legitimate, or they are not. Either you believe that Muhammed's flying horsepeacockwoman was a real thing, or you are saying that the Koran is lying, and Islam is VERY clear on what the punishment for that stance is.
"Chill" Muslims need to wake the fuck up and demand that their faith moves out of the 14th Century. But of course, according to its foundational texts, it can never do that because it can never be altered or changed by humans. So it's just going to be an anchor on humanity for the next several centuries.

Drone strike eliminated airport threat - US
The US says its drone strike in Kabul today was successful in "eliminating an imminent" threat to the airport, where evacuations are winding down.
Capt Bill Urban of US Central Command said he was "confident" that the target, a vehicle carrying at least one person associated with IS-K and a "substantial amount of explosive material", was destroyed.
"We are assessing the possibilities of civilian casualties, though we have no indications at this time," he said.
"We remain vigilant for potential future threats.”

Science has a self-correcting mechanism, that enables new conclusions if evidence or theory warrant such. It's called the scientific method.
