Harper got in a lick himself and good on him for not throwing his helmet at him first.Bryce Harper just charged the mound and got popped a couple of times.
The Reds also got Peraza in that deal - he looks to be a good one as well. Plays a good glove - has started most of the games this year at 2nd base, but he is also capable of playing short and even some outfield. The Todd Frasier trade starting to pay off this year for CIN. Check out Schebler and his 13 homers already.
I think he got a good shot in too. Not a bad fight.Bryce Harper just charged the mound and got popped a couple of times.
Interesting that Buster Posey didn't move an inch to keep Harper from heading to the mound. That's unusual for a catcher to not attempt to diffuse the situation. He was still behind the dish when they started throwing punches at the mound.Bryce Harper just charged the mound and got popped a couple of times.
He's gonna catch a lot of shit for that. The catcher is supposed to be his pitcher's first defender.Interesting that Buster Posey didn't move an inch to keep Harper from heading to the mound. The Reds getting Saurez for the corpse of Alfredo Simon was pretty good too. Reds had the top offense in the league as of a day or two ago, if their starting pitching ever gets healthy..The Reds also got Peraza in that deal - he looks to be a good one as well. The Reds control both Schebler and Peraza until - I believe - 2020 before they are eligible for arbitration.
I don't wish anything against Todd Frazier as he is one of the good ones in the game - but this trade is proving to be a big win for the Reds.
Posey sounds like a bitch there, but I don't think that's the reason he didn't stop Harper. As a rule, catchers aren't pussies. His body language after the HBP was like "Really dude?" and I think he figured Strick was going to get what was coming to him.
Homer Bailey (60 day DL)The Reds getting Saurez for the corpse of Alfredo Simon was pretty good too. Reds had the top offense in the league as of a day or two ago, if their starting pitching ever gets healthy..
Reds are a weird team, worst bullpen in history last year & now Lorenzen & Iglesias are their best pitchers, Iglesias looks like the best pitcher in the world at times.Homer Bailey (60 day DL)
Anthony DeSclafini (60 day DL)
Brandon Finnegan (60 day DL)
Tony Cingrani (10 day DL)
Just brutal. I haven't looked at their starting pitching stats in a bit - but it has to be the worst in the league. It's amazing the Reds are doing as well as they are with the group that they have.
June could be an interesting month if they start getting some of these guys back.
And you are correct. Suarez looks to be a great player.
Strickland should get a trip to the minors, what a dickheadSuspensions from fight:
Bryce Harper : 4 games
Hunter Strickland : 6 games
As always, both are appealing the suspensions.
Pretty pathetic to hold on to a grudge for that long, but I'm glad he kept it waist high.Strickland should get a trip to the minors, what a dickhead
saw an interesting theory that Posey didn't get in the way b/c he knew Strickland wanted to fight. don't believe it, but I guess it's plausible.Pretty pathetic to hold on to a grudge for that long, but I'm glad he kept it waist high.
It's a west coast game. 10 PM.Did Posey get beamed yet?
If true, that puts Posey in a bad spot. Strick doesn't want him to get in the way of Harper coming to the mound, but then Posey has to defend his decision to stay out of it - without actually selling his pitcher out by saying it was an intentional plunking.saw an interesting theory that Posey didn't get in the way b/c he knew Strickland wanted to fight. don't believe it, but I guess it's plausible.
it's going to take a major injury before baseball stops the beanings, I hate the 'unwritten rules'
stacked the jays about 10 different ways in DFS, which means the Reds are assured of victory, probably a shutout. I'm 0 for a thousand stacking the blue jays this year. Probably would be better off lighting a few hundred on fire instead of betting on themIt's a west coast game. 10 PM.
