SC MMA MD @SC MMA MD might have up to date info on kids and coronavirus

No kids under 9 had died for a long time. A handful have now. Still kids seem resilient in the face of this compared to the rest of us. If there are that many kids admitted all of a sudden for corona symptoms (that didn't present earlier in the year in the same numbers) that throws a real wrench in my understanding of this virus.
That has been the case here in SC (so far) very few children ill with COVID, many asymptomatic positive tests prior to procedures etc.
There is concern about the systemic inflammatory process that has been described in children with COVID that can cause Kawasaki like coronary changes, but no cases in our region (so far).

My state is outperforming all of your states on the second wave.

We were down to 0 daily cases for a few days, now we are up to 75. That's 75 times 0. Which is like...uh...triple the number of cases?

Point is Victoria rules, while Texas, Florida and California drool! That's why we named after the concept of Victory, I think. We certainly weren't named after a fat queen.

I understand you are not interested in looking into it yourself before engaging me in conversation.

get off google, use an uncensored search engine and learn about the three men in this photo...pretty interesting stuff
Then hit me up in a bill gates thread...there are a few of them I would guess
Peace out, won't respond about this in the official C-19 Megathread

It looks paltry but considering we looked like we were on the point of complete eradication, it's pretty bad to get to this point. Most of those cases are community transmission too. At the start of the pandemic the numbers were higher, but they could contact trace most of the cases. Now they have no idea where the infections are coming from, which means that infections are starting to get out of control and it's only going to get worse without strict lockdowns.

Melbourne also isn't Montana. It's not even Miami. Inner Melbourne is more dense than most core areas of US cities outside of New York. It's also flu season and flu seasons are always terrible here. That's why we are in trouble, despite the numbers seeming low. Things can get out of hand far quicker.

6,093 new cases reported in Florida today out of 30,844 new test results reported.

That's a positivity rate of just under 20%.

I am confident that we will hit the 12,000 daily cases mark by the end of the week.

Those states had half of all deaths for covid 19 total, so it makes sense they had half of nursing home deaths as well.
agreed

but the putting sick people around high risk people is what the tweet is about
That seems like the opposite of what you should be doing

Do we know thats what was happening?
Apparently yes...but only in those 5 states
After positive tests the states had ordered nursing homes to accept non hospitalized patients back among the non positive high risk elderly.
:(:(

"Dr. Michael Wasserman, a geriatrician and the president of the California Association of Long Term Medicine, said, “Any guidance from the government that opens the door to send more COVID-19 into a nursing home or assisted living facility, to me, is medically unsound.”

So these homes were where these people lived prior to covid, where were they supposed to go?

So Europe has confirmed they are banning Americans from travelling there.

Chinese citizens are welcome.

maybe they should rename the virus to the ‘Murcia virus!

That doesn't make sense, it didn't originate because of disgusting wet markets in America.

Really? Your asking what is wrong with that policy? haha

How about not back with the uninfected?

Quarantine is what is supposed to happen isn't it? The same states were putting homeless in hotels to "protect" them. Same states released criminals(rapists, violent offenders) to prevent spread of covid.

The answer is you don't put a positive tested potential carrier around a bunch of high risk non positive people...that makes zero sense and is really fucked up.

Why can't they set up a quarantined section to handle those people, how do they handle the flu (remember this isn't a big deal, it's just the flu). I know when we had to quarantine we did it......in our home, which is pretty mind blowing..

well they sent them right back to their rooms, not a quarantine

I find it odd you are sticking up for those 5 governors and the policy which likely killed exposed some high risk people
