Right---but, I do see what people are saying when it comes to Shamrock's technique on the RNC throughout his career. I didn't realize it until I started looking at his old fights---like the one against Felix Mitchell in, whatever UFC that was---how gorilla his technique has always been. So, I'll concede that against Kimbo he just tried it the same old dumb way he's always done it, except that, unlike those other times, he strangely wasn't using his body as a whole to apply leverage. And if his technique always sucked, I guess there's no reason to think he would have made it any better against Kimbo. It's more the overall effort I'm puzzled by.Yes, it was all hand.
A good one that shows how easy this should be is Fedor demonstrating a rnc on SportsScience. (anaconda/python/boa episode)
As darqness pointed out, the elbow is not aligned with the chin, the crutch is not under the throat.
Even if this had been positioned initially, the proper form could've been transitioned to in fractions of a second.
Good call on that Fedor demo. I remember that as well. And speaking of Fedor---anybody got a good pic of Fedor's choke on Sylvia? I haven't found any good shots of it yet. It's kind of relevant because it wasn't a blood choke, hence no need for the elbow lining up under the chin and so forth.
