Kids will absolutely notice if there is a lesbian character and ask questions that parents will have to repond to. When my girls notice someone gay hugging or more on tv they always ask me what is going on. I just tell them that everyone likes who they like. There really is nothing more I can tell them at that young of age.
On another point, I think that the disney princesses are bad role models for young girls: in most movies the female character is completely helpless and must be save by a man who only helps because they are pretty, then marry him after knowing them for 5 minutes.

I think the problem is that gays are way over presented in the media. I'm pro gay rights like their right to be married for example but I think its agenda pushing when you start skewing the numbers.

Asian females are being way over represented in our media at the moment too. I think they are a "safe" minority but you almost never see asian males during the add breaks here. I'm pretty sure that the ratio of asian males to females is 50:50 in Australian society. Funny that eh?

I would have no problem taking my kids to a Disney movie with a gay character. They've met plenty of gay people IRL.

We live in a liberal fagtopia that has gays, & this is what I've been telling my 11 year old son for years now:

• Being gay/homosexual is when people of the same sex are attracted to each other.
• BEING GAY ISN'T A BIG DEAL.
• THERE IS NOTHING WRONG IT IT. It's no different than being Hispanic (which we are), Black, Asian, etc...
• I think it's weird/gross to feel that way about other men, but WHAT I THINK DOESN'T MATTER.
• They have a right to do what makes them happy, regardless of what I, him, or anyone else thinks.
• Gay people are like any other people: they're people. Many are wonderful, some are lame, but they're people.
• We know gay people, including two fat mulleted lesbians that adopted a kid. We know fat mulleted straight parents, too.
• Mullets looks look funny on anyone.

Why do I tell him this shit? So he learns that when he sees gay people in real life, movies, comics, where ever, it's not a big fucking deal.
