Fauci is a politician. He's not a scientist, nothing he says is about science. Why do people keep talking about "what Fauci says" after the guy admitted to lying to them out of self-interest?

Where is this guy outside by himself? Did he come from a place where a mask was rational, and did he just forget he had it on?
A picture isn't theater. Theater has context.

just because you can use a real thing as a theater prop doesn't make it less of a real thing.

masks, vaccines, social distancing/sanitation, contact tracing are all real things.
Simply because someone seizes on them to play Public Health Dress-Up doesn't change their efficacy.

Sanitation and masks have been demonstrated to be fairly tenuous in terms of efficacy given that the virus is airborne and largely spreading that way. I do however appreciate that you're now acknowledging that security theater is taking place.

of course - i don't think I ever denied it. The theatrics of the pandemic have been non-stop, and frankly pretty disheartening.
fake science theatrics, fake origin theatrics, fake infectivity theatrics... I expected it, I just didn't expect such a receptive audience for swallowing bullshit.

Regarding masks and sanitation - there's no debating that masks and sanitation reduce the amount of virus you're exposed to, so there is a benefit. Compared to the effectively null cost of masks/sanitation, there never should have been any debate about it. But some actors and directors wanted to tell a story where they weren't the bad guy, so they grabbed some real stuff and treated it like props.

There's a benefit to sanitation and masks and the benefit is nowhere near people have pretended it to be for months now. The problem is when it's publicly acknowledged it paints them into yet another corner they'll try to lie their way out of.

you can't hold The Thing accountable for the ways people misrepresent it.

it doesn't cost anything. It provides undeniable benefit when used properly across a population. The benefit of masks and sanitation is well-documented, relevant, and meaningful.
Stop voting for, and listening to, the people who lie to you and fuck you for their own benefit.
