General Any suggestions to trap some kittens

Brindlecoats are spooky lil fuckers(the black one), pretty cool cats though. I had one, she was a wild lil gal. I would guess that black one is a female.Well they came back when they were hungry enough this morning. The black one is the most wild and skittish.
Yeah, thinking that as well and the orange are male. Very rare to have a male brindle/calico and female orange tabby.
Oddly enough, I have been in this scenario a few times in my life. The truth is that unless you catch the feral kittens very young, they are likely a lost cause. They will be wild animals. You can trap them, and find them homes, but the best they will ever be as a pet is maybe be kinda okay with their primary owner but be the cat that hides from people and hisses and attacks if you manage to get close enough.Neighbor and I noticed we had about 6 kittens, mom and dad living under his shed.
We have been feeding them, but it is starting to attract skunks.
Haven't seen dad around in a week and 4 of the kittens have disappeared.
This is mom in the front, she is very easy to handle. The kittens on the other hand are skittish as hell, this is the closest I have been able to get to them by setting the food in front of me. As soon as I lean over to snag one the two kittens bolt.
I have good homes lined up for all three so they don't get taken out by whatever has taken out the others. I have a xlarge have a heart trap which I don't think they will set off so all three can get in there to hit the bait. Going to set that up tomorrow to try, any other suggestions if that doesn't work.
I have trapped kittens and brought them to shelters that work with feral cats and they try to find them homes but they are often times seriously going to have a better life if you just leave them alone and treat them like a wild animal. If nothing else, trapping them, getting them spayed and neutered, and re-releasing might be the best play.
As far as trapping... I have used standard traps. But after one or two see a cat walk into a trap and never come back, they stop falling for it. One time, we found this lady who was part of a group of people who catch feral cats for free and at no charge. This lady showed up with a blanket and picinic basket and a car full of cat traps and cages and sat in our backyard every day for like a week and managed to catch most of them. She would then take them and figure out what to do with them. She was the one who said spaying/neutering and re-release was sometimes what was best for the cats. She was peak crazy cat lady, and I believe she was right.

I thought that was genetically impossible. All tabby are male.
Definitely not impossible. We had an orange tabby when I was growing up, Dingo, who we thought was a boy right up until I found Dingo in my closet with a litter of kittens he had given birth to. This was before all of the woke bullshit, Dingo, and orange tabby, was actually a female.
That's what I was saying, very very rare for a female tabby same as a male calico
When I was 20 I was banging this 30yo single mom from work. Her daughters were 1st & 2nd grade. The big one begged for a cat for over a year and mom got her an orange tabby for her birthday.
She named it Purr, which was pretty adorable.
One day I'm playing with the kitten and I see balls. I thought it was hilarious because of course this little girl had decided it was a girl too.
"I hate to break it to you, but Purr is a boy".
She burst into tears and screamed "No! You change him back right now!"
"Sorry kid, it only works once. Purr is a boy forever now."
I don't think she ever forgave me.

The lady was a biker Betty, was attracted to sketchy. The babies daddy was a somewhat well-known biker, in and out of the pen...
That was my wheelhouse at that age. I was somewhat dangerous to be around before I got my shit together.
It was a pretty set up. She lived a block from the printshop we worked at.
A few times a week she'd invite me over for dinner. Steak and sides no single 20yo would even consider. And a 12 pack.
I'd just play with the kids while she made dinner and after the kids were put down she'd use me like a fuck doll.
In hindsight, she absolutely played me lol. I got used for sex. At the time I was "free food, beer, and guaranteed dirty dirty fucking! NO possible downside here!"
I regret nothing, but its funny how naive I was back then when I thought I already had everything figured out.
Story gets better.
The following year my new girlfriend became the nanny for the girls one summer. And I'm pretty sure the biker was paying for it because I know tgis broad didn't have the money to pay a 40hr/week babysitter.

Dude! I was a super fan of the first 2 dexter books.
When the series started I was stoked until a few episodes.
I was full on that guy, "this is nothing like the books, they're ruining everything"
But I just started watching the series again and now I kinda like it.

My wife and I are working through old series we never watched, currently on Dexter season 7. I think I need to tap out my wife is getting pissed every time I say this is bullshit and not how it works. She gives me the stank eye every time I start to open my mouth.

If they are kitties still they just need enough time to trust you. Cheeto(RIP) was skittish as hell until a few weeks. He would jump on my lap and follow me inside. He would always want to go outside, though.

I heard of a cat sanctuary about 45 minutes from us so I drove over this morning to talk to the owner. I explained the whole situation to her and she told me that the best thing for them was to keep them together. To try and separate them at this point would not be good for them or a home. She said she can get them fixed with shots but she doesn't think she can adopt them out. She is actually at max capacity with 500 cats and all the area animal shelters are full as well so there is no place to even keep them.
I said fuck it, I'll trap them and bring them to you, fix them, I will give you a donation to you sanctuary and bring them back home to our empty barn.
The conversation was much more in depth but that was the basics of it.
So I sprung the trap tonight and captured them.
I'm going to order 20 bales of straw tomorrow and will build them a nice home in the barn. Will be picking them up on saturday.
I was surprised my wife was fine with this. She actually wrote out the check for the donation.
