The CDC does not require follow-up testing to return to work. testing negative is one strategy. A time-based strategy is also available as testing remains limited even though it shouldn't be.Here is my question. When someone has a reoccurrence of symptoms, who decides or orders the samples to be tested to see if this is indeed the same infection or a new/different infection? And how often does this testing actually occur?

In the case of follow-up testing you submit the same patient under investigation paperwork. It is linked to the patient and would not be counted as a new positive case.
