Hey, buddy old pal. I typed in a search for one of my own old posts about how winter was going to run a train on the northern hemisphere so I could rub it in the forum's face, and lo and behold, one of your posts came up. This was nearly as spot on as the time you said Cowboy had better striking than Conor. Yep, coronavirus certainly doesn't seem to care about the weather. LOL.

I told all these governments in the northern hemisphere they needed to prepare their anuses for the frosty cock of flu season coronavirus. For whatever reason, they chose not to get their public health advice from some random cunt on an obscure MMA internet forum, but they would have been in much better shape if they did.

Enjoy your winter, milk shitters.
It's not flu season here. That starts in a month.

You also might want to tone down your homophobic slurs.

Well, it actually is. But yes, it's only just the beginning. The real fun is still a little way off. Look at what's happening in Europe. After what happened here in Melbourne. That recent spike that's just hit Canada? Not a coincidence mete.

Old frosty the snowman is about to dig in that ass.

Here is my question. When someone has a reoccurrence of symptoms, who decides or orders the samples to be tested to see if this is indeed the same infection or a new/different infection? And how often does this testing actually occur?

@Splinty , can you advise on this?
The CDC does not require follow-up testing to return to work. testing negative is one strategy. A time-based strategy is also available as testing remains limited even though it shouldn't be.

In the case of follow-up testing you submit the same patient under investigation paperwork. It is linked to the patient and would not be counted as a new positive case.

Did Australia have a severe or mild flu season this year?

*Edit: Did some reading. Apparently Australia basically skipped flu season this year.

In August 2019, there were 61,000 laboratory confirmed cases of influenza in Australia.
In August 2020, there were 107.
"This is virtually a non-season," said Ian Barr, a professor of microbiology and immunology at the University of Melbourne. "We've never seen numbers like this before."

I've been wondering where we'll go with this season.

Either we get the painful double whammy, or amelioration efforts for covid-19 will also decease the flu season.

I remember Filthy @TCity Social Outreach Dir (fuck these name changes) showing some countries ended their flu season early last year in asia for this reason.

The second wave definitely started rolling here now.
More restrictions again as well as far as travel and bars go for example.

Hong Kong eradicated seasonal flu back in January, SK was down to like 10 cases per day.

EDIT: i should point out that those were 'confirmed' influenza cases. Obviously flu was still running around in those countries.

Spain and France have realllllly been hit hard. Italy has avoided a resurgence at such a high level as those two countries, though.

Edit nevermind Italy has had a similar resurgence

Yeah I kinda wonder why the Spaniards have such a hard time. And France - outside of Paris - should be able to keep it down rather easily as well. But nope.
Hardest hit so far these days was the Czech Republic though. One of my buddies works in Prague, he wanted to come around and visit these days... I doubt they will let him.

I remember seeing a photo of people drinking at a large outdoor party in the CR because they had "beaten" COVID-19.

I mean it's hard to laugh about a potentially fatal illness, but lol.

Crazy, right?

It's almost as if transforming society into a dystopian nightmare world where people can barely leave their houses - and are forced to wear a mask if they do - in order to stop the widespread transmission of disease actually stops the widespread transmission of disease. But that can't be it.

There is an inherent joy in seeing coronaviris arrogance and complacency punished. It's only natural.

Sydney had more cases than us the other day. The fake reaction in Melbourne was 'aw, that's concerning'. The real reaction was 'yes! Cop that you fucking pricks'.

We are circling the drain, so we want to grab some ankles and take these cunts down with us.

Canada has largely the same policies l, so I'm not sure what point you think you're making here.

Austrlia definitely avoided the double whammy that Sheepdog @Saloth Sar had predicted. I dont see why other places can't do the same. If something decreases spread of respiratory illnesses it should work for all of them.

Nobody is arguing that, mete. The double whammy concern was based on a scenario where long-term wholescale measures to combat coronavirus were not implemente. It was back when 'flattening the curve' was all the rage, and restrictions were supposed to just be a temporary measure to stop hospitals getting overrun. It was not a concern once we'd gone full North Korea in Winter.

A search shows that the only time I used the phrase 'double whammy', was from March, when lockdowns had only just begun, in response to Splinty tagging me about it, basically just saying that flu season would screw Melbourne.

In the same post I said summer would NOT save the US like some were predicting. I was right. Just like I was right that winter would fuck Melbourne. Just like I am again right that winter will fuck the northern hemisphere. Because I am the god damn coronavirus rain maker, son.

This stuff is pretty easy to understand. Winter = Flu season = more coronavirus spreading.

Flu season didn't screw Melbourne, mate. Although the mental gymnastics you're attempting to avoid admitting that your covid/flu/winter prediction were flat wrong is impressive.
