According to rumours, Daniel Day Lewis absolutely refused to go out of character at all during the filming of Gangs of New York, and it drove his co-stars to distraction. Also it's a great movie, but I absolutely hated the ending. Which also ties into racism. It ruined the movie imo
I realize Irish oppression was the underpinning of the plot. But the Irish were challenged to fights, the blacks were lynched into the streets. No it wasn't. It was the key tone.
Because Irish isn't a race. And why do you refer to one as discrimination and the other as racism?
Did you watch the movie White Boy Rick? I enjoyed it but the fact that it was based on a true story was more intriguing than the movie itself. I’m glad there is a documentary too. Gonna check it out.
