Playstyle. Some people are all about the melee. Not me, but i do carry the knife just in case i wanna merc someone silently. I prefer my gauss rifle from a very far distance.Did the Dunwich Bores (sp) today. Freaky as fuck. Jumped down into the water and retrieved the knife.
Mission was good. Reward was a bit meh.
I've got a shotgun that will take a room full of anything out in seconds flat, what do I need that shitty knife for.
Am I missing something?
True enough.Playstyle. Some people are all about the melee. Not me, but i do carry the knife just in case i wanna merc someone silently. I prefer my gauss rifle from a very far distance.
Recon scopes are great for my playstyle because i don't even fast travel anymore. I use a vertibird to travel from place to place, get dropped off at a location near to where my mission is, post up on a nearby hill and bombard the area with artillery while i snipe. You can't beat an explosive shotgun for clearing rooms like you said though. At least i haven't found anything better yet.True enough.
I've got a shotgun and a .44 for up close and personal although the pistol can be a bit cumbersome especially against ghouls. I prefer my 50cal sniper rifles.
I've just got a recon scope for one but I'm still getting used to it, didn't realise the magnification would be so great.

With my current spec, i do 6.3x damage with any ranged sneak attack with a silenced weapon. You can put a silencer on the gauss rifle and charge it up...it hits SO fucking hard.
Thanks homie.Wow.
You've got that shit nailed down.
What have you invested in perkwise to get up to x6.3 damage in sneak? I'm still at x2.5 but I don't pit a lot of thought into stuff.
I got local leader recently and can't figure out how to get people to go to other settlements.
Some people might go "Strong back? How is that combat related?" If the shit hits the fan, it's a huge benefit to be able to use AP to run if you're over encumbered. Thanks homie.
For local leader you go into workshop mode and open the "move to" option. For example, it's the X button on Xbox one.
My build so far is full points in all of the following for combat: Sniper, Rifleman, Ninja, Mr. Sandman, Sneak, Action Boy, Strong Back, Quick Hands, and Better Criticals. I have others, but they are largely non combat related. Currently working on Gunslinger, because i like the Deliverer.
I'm level 72 closing in on 73, but i saw there is no level cap so i just want to max everything eventually.
Slightly connected, I did the silver shroud quests the other day and it was only when I out the armour on that I realised all me carry capacity was coming from crafting pocketed armour. Rectified that now by putting some points into the strength perks. Some people might go "Strong back? How is that combat related?" For that part, it makes it a lot easier if you have a high charisma. I don't want to spoil it further, but you'll be able to convince an npc to lead you down the right path rather than have to do a "gopher" mission for them to give you the info you need.I'm only at 42. I'm only up to the point in the main quest where you have to go to the glowing sea. I've mainly been mooching about doing side missions.
Thanks for the heads up on local leader, I knew it must be something fairly simple. I only want it so I can build up each settlement one at a time.
Me too. When my kid goes down for a nap i will be hopping on that shit, and talking to you about it has definitely got me amped about it today.I'll throw some points at that next then.
I love this game.
Speaking of Power Armor, i have a question for y'all. Why am i reading about so many people not wanting to use theirs? I've read so many people bitching about a lack of fusion cores and repair materials.... how is that possible? I never have less than 100 fusion cores at any given time (i think it's close to 150 or so atm i stopped counting). The Nuclear Physicist Perk (which i only have 1 rank of) lets you have 2 times the length of use maxed out. I really don't get it. Anyone able to drop some knowledge on me i'm missing?Sandman kills are awesome! I still think you should be able to do them in Power Armour, though. I mean, hey, if you're that asleep that you didn't hear a guy in Power Armour walk into your place after he kills a bunch of your buddies, I think I should be allowed to murder your stupid ass silently with a knife while still wearing the coolest armour in the game!
For me the power armor makes the game look weird and I don't like the way the game plays while you are in the armor. I use them on really tough missions but I really go at it without 99% of the time. Also the cost to repair is quite high in materials so I'm never fully armed. I can see how someone would love using it, but it's just not for me.Speaking of Power Armor, i have a question for y'all. Would you mind explaining further what you mean by this please? I ask because the only difference i've seen is the HUD change.I don't like the way the game plays while you are in the armor
The hud part is what did it for me because it just looks strange and for some reason it bothers me. It's also the thud noise when running, it's the bar on the bottom of the screen and having to readjust to different meters, I'm lazy, seriously, I just want to know what I'm looking at and not think. Really, as I type this it just sounds like I'm pissing and moaning over meaningless things, but I'd rather just round around without the armor.Would you mind explaining further what you mean by this please? I gotcha. No i don't think you're moaning about it. I asked the question after all.The hud part is what did it for me because it just looks strange and for some reason it bothers me. Maxed out all my crafting by level 41. I love it.I'm big into crafting and synth armour. IMO, crafting pretty much makes you invincible if you have enough material laying around.
I play on the xbox one, so i haven't used a mod. Come to think of it i don't think i've ever used a mod. Although i have watched videos of some hilarious ones.I'm also very into mods that make female characters look even better! Lol!
Probably my favourite mod, though, is being able to create robots for defensive purposes. Go to a settlement, clean up a bunch of shit, and make a sentry bot!
